About Me

Hi! I am currently in a Master’s degree program for Reading Education at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. I decided to further pursue reading and literacy instruction because I truly believe that we all must be literate before we can do anything else. Before learning anything in math, science, or social studies, we must first be able to read. Reading is the foundation upon which everything else in education stands. I wanted to learn about the most crucial curriculum area from some of the most acclaimed professionals in the field.

I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education, with a Second Academic Concentration in Spanish, in May of 2018 from Appalachian State University. I completed my student teaching in a third-grade classroom at Newland Elementary in Avery County, NC in the spring of 2018. I have completed internships in a fourth-grade classroom in Wilkes County, a first-grade classroom in Ashe County, and another fourth-grade classroom in Wake County.

I have lived in North Carolina my whole life; I grew up in Holly Springs, right outside of Raleigh, and I currently live in Boone with my fiancé, Austin, and my cat, Rue.

I enjoying hiking, puzzling, and reading. Some of my favorite books from my personal library are: Harry Potter, The Westing Game, A Series of Unfortunate Events,  Before I Fall, If I Stay, I am the Messenger, Jane Eyre, To Kill A Mockingbird, and any of Rick Riordan’s mythological series.
